Rest and relax in the calming Chena Hot Springs. Visit the Fairbanks Ice Museum and learn about the powers of geothermal energy, all while being led by expert guides. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Fairbanks is included.
On this rejuvenating day trip from Fairbanks, your senses will be reawakened by a day of rest and relaxation at the Chena River State Recreation Area. The day begins around 11:30am in Fairbanks, where you will be driven first to the Fairbanks Ice Museum, complete with an ice bar and chandeliers made entirely of ice! Here you will have a guided tour of the museum.
Next, venture on to the geothermal springs of Chena.
These are not your ordinary hot springs. The resort makes use of the first low-temperature binary geothermal power plant built in Alaska, and you will be comforted to know that the area provides several alternative energy projects to those big oil pipelines you've seen sprawled out around the state. Let your worries slip away as you step into the warm and calming pools, which will sooth your body and soul with their powerful effects.
You'll have several hours to lounge and relax before returning to Fairbanks. If you're hungry, you can stop by the local restaurant. On your drive back, you may spot some moose, so keep your eyes peeled! You'll arrive back in Fairbanks around 6:30pm.
